All Objectives? Cryo? Literally nuke the station? Check. It's a good time. But, sadly.Nobody else came. The game was glitchy. It was poorly made.It should have been a freeware title. So, we did what we had to do.We made a blood pact.We must refund this game and send it back to once it came. The price is too steep, and there's not enough people playing. And we said our goodbyes.I'm sorry, my friend. 300, forgive me... Once again another crying tragedy that people overlooked because it wasn't made by some triple A developer with billions in advertising.Servers are currently empty, and no sign of people being able to make their own.. no one plays on eu servers recommend joining the discord group but even at that not many people play it often. This game would be great if people actually played! I just find myself running around on my own for 15 minutes doing nothing unless you get a friend to buy the game which, on this basis, I would definitely not recommend!. This game isn't exactly like TTT, only similar. It's cool because your fellow scientist has to head off to pick up a gun he wants and when he comes back he isn't exactly human, but you don't find out until it's to late. All the classes combined with how the game is played makes me only bored of the game after playing for three hours straight, then the next day, i'm ready to play again. I recommend the game, it's like a multiplayer game of "The Thing" but of course no ones knows what that movie is :(. This used to be a positive review. Now it is not. You go ♥♥♥♥in buy this game a year or two again good stuff, you have a nice Discord with a small community. Some of my best friends I met on this game. Then, someone started posting some Isis decapitation♥♥♥♥♥♥on the Discord, and two people who had been on the server for a while were given mod to deal with it.Fast forward to spring 2017 and the last update rolled out. We were told that a new update would come out soon. That never ♥♥♥♥ing happened. Fair enough I suppose, games stall in development. But not a word from the devs at all. And then the community slowly starts to thin out. Fastforward again to summer 2018. Only people left are me, the mods, and some new guys who just joined. These mods are the problem. They keep denying that the game is dead till they get word from the owner. Good ♥♥♥♥ing luck with that he hasn't said ♥♥♥♥ all for the best part of a year. Another bad part of this is that the mods think they're bigger than god and if you disagree with them you get ♥♥♥♥in banned. This becomes a problem when a guy joins the Discord asking if the community is dead. I said yes, there are literally like 5 people who pay attention to what happens on the Discord. A mod says the game is on a "hiatus until we hear otherwise". I ask them when the last time they played and they just repeat themselves. I say "uh huh" and they tell me not to lip off, and I yet again sarcastically agree to their god complex and I get ♥♥♥♥in banned. So long story short the mods who were promoted on a ♥♥♥♥in whim think they're bigger than God and they ban anyone who disagrees with them, because why not when the owner gives zero ♥♥♥♥s?Do not buy this game for the love of ♥♥♥♥ing god. It now has reduced from a playerbase of like 5 people to 4 thanks to the immaturity of the moderators and the lack of ♥♥♥♥♥ given by the owner. This game had potential but it's painfully obvious it's been abandoned. The ♥♥♥♥ing mods deny it because they like the illusion of power over a couple people but if anyone has a fraction of a blind man they can see it's dead as ♥♥♥♥. Do. Not. Buy. This. Game.. The only game on the market that really pays respect to the incredible concept that is The Thing. Great game, only needs a bigger crowd backing it up. Look forward to future updates.. Let me preface this review by saying that this game is early access so anything said here could be changed or improved on in the future. Bear in mind the date of this review before making your opinion. Okay so, I'm a HUGE fan of "The Thing" and I think the idea of aliens slowly taking over the crew and you don't know who to trust is awesome, hence why I love Trouble in Terrorist Town. So, I purchased this game based on my love for "The Thing" and "Aliens" among other inspirations, and as well the ~90% positive review on steam. I read through some of the other reviews and many praise the game for its potential, not what is in the game currently. Imo this is NOT a review of the game as a review is an analysis of the game in its current state, not what it could become. I have also read the dev is responsive and active on fixing bugs, addressing people, etc, which is rare in an early access title. However, even though I agree that the game has potential, I am going to talk about what the game is currently. This game is a hot mess where pretty much everything is off. While I wouldn't expect an early access title to be perfectly polished, this feels like it is the .000001 Alpha build. The movement feels too quick, and your character doesn't really feel like he has any weight You're not in the vaccum of space so don't pull that excuse. The UI is terrible, the text pop ups look rudimentary and your map system are just rotating squares that show through walls good luck reading that♥♥♥♥♥♥while it rotates and doesn't get larger when you're far away There is also a massive flaw in the design of this game, being that the game REQUIRES certain characters or abilities in order complete these random events that pop up. The problem? Nobody plays the game, so if you get an event where you need a pilot, but none of the people in your game are pilots, you're ♥♥♥♥ed, next round. The system currently has no balance in the event system so if you play with less people, you still get just as many and you often can't complete them, basically this means you need to have a nearly full if not full server to properly complete them, which is nearly impossible given the average number of players most the time is 0. And if you get killed during the match, guess what, infinite respawns! This game design baffles my mind as it removes all tension from anything when you know you're just going to keep respawning until you either win or lose the round. A lot of the reviews on here also claim how "intense" the game is and the tension that it has. I seriously wonder if we're playing the same game because there is absolutely no tension considering the rounds last an average of 2 minutes, you have infinite respawns, and none of the models in the game look remotely scary and when you kill them they freak out and ragdoll around which is ♥♥♥♥ing hilarious so tense. The game also claims to be a mix of RPG elements, calling this game an RPG is an insult to the genre. You have the ability to pick between 4 classes to start the game, but all of them play the exact same, there is no differentiation between them other than weaponry. The "upgrades" you get are laughable, you can get them all extremely quickly which completely removes any potential of different player builds. tl;dr Game is definitely not worth buying, even on sale. Frankly even free in its current state you'd be spending time which is too expensive for me. The game is buggy, unpolished, unpopulated, unscary, not tense, and most damning, not fun. I was even playing with a friend and our only reaction was wtf we were in a server with ~5 people so we had a better than average experience. Just go play Trouble in Terrorist Town instead, at least until this game gets much far down the road in development.UPDATE: I haven't thought or played this game since I originally posted this review (~2 years ago) and I came across it in my Steam library and thought I'd post an edit. This game is even more dead than it was back when I reviewed the game originally. If you head to https://steamcharts.com/app/499230#All you can see that the peak # of players at one time for this game was 22, and since June of 2018 there hasn't been a peak of higher than 5 players. Additionally, I took a look through the forums and couldn't find any obvious signs of planned or recent updates from the devs so I see no reason to purchase this title ever.To the devs, I hope you can learn from this game. SurvHive was launched FAR too early in development and failed because of it. For a multiplayer only experience, you need to be able to hook players and keep them coming back from the first time they play a game. To do this, you need to have a good, enjoyable foundation when you launch in early access rather than what is little more than a demo. If you launch a game that looks and plays like any other poorly produced early access title the game will quickly hemmorage what few players dared to pick it up and quickly fade into nothingness. Perhaps you could revamp the game and do a re-launching to try and increase the playerbase, however such an update would have to be so expansive that it made the game both look and play significanly better.
